Kate has been interested in design and architecture since she was eighteen, when she began studying Art and Design at Art College in Bath. After gaining a Bachelor of Arts with honours in Fine Art and Design, she went on to train as a primary school teacher and taught art classes before beginning her studies in Interior Design with the KLC School of Design in Chelsea, London. Since then, planning spaces has become a passion! She has been renovating and successfully developing property for 11 years and during that time has taken on many interesting and challenging design projects around the country. Upon qualifying and as projects kept coming in, she decided to set up her own Interior Design business that provides affordable services for a variety of design needs. She looks forward to working with new clients locally and remotely to create many more beautiful new spaces!
'What I love about interior design is the creative process, I love that you start with a canvas that needs filling, just like with creating paintings- you can keep layering up and reworking the design elements and it can take on a life of it's own- its very exciting!
I also love meeting new people and take time to get to know and understand my clients so that I can create a design that really works for them and their lifestyle. I enjoy the problem solving aspect of designing spaces- I like things to work well and easily as well as be beautiful. I have a broad taste in interiors from bauhaus to organic modern- I love earthy tones and natural materials like stripped wood and terracotta, but I also love crisp white walls with pops of colour. Working across many styles suits my clients as they get an enthusiastic design without perimeters.
I like to work collaboratively with clients to plan spaces that are functional and successful ergonomically so that they improve a clients day to day life and for me, that's a crucial aspect of my job as a designer. As too is creating spaces that feel uplifting and nurturing to make people feel relaxed and at peace the moment they come back into them!'
